Compton, CA – It could be argued that today is one of the biggest days of the year for hip-hop. After months of anticipation, Kendrick Lamar has finally released his album debut, good kid, m.A.A.d. city and so far he’s received stellar reviews. In honor of the new release, we’ve selected “Poetic Justice,” featuring Drake, as our Song of the Day. In case you’re wondering, the song features a sample of Janet Jackson’s “Any Time, Any Place.” Coincidently, Jackson appeared in the 1993 movie Poetic Justice alongside Tupac Shakur but it’s unclear if that inspired the song’s title.
Aside from Drake, good kid, m.A.A.d. city has more Canadian connections including Toronto producer T-Minus for “Swimming Pools (Drank).” The album is available now on iTunes.
Congratulations to Kendrick. Incredible body of work. Honored to be a part of it.
